Missi (Pelok) Stutzman graduated from Wauseon High School in 1988. During her four year career she earned a total of 12 varsity letters in cross-country, swimming, and track.
As a freshman Missi made her first of four cross-country state appearances where she placed 41st and also earned all-league honors. Missi is the only 4-time state qualifier in Wauseon cross-country history. In track she was named her team’s MVP distance runner.
As a sophomore Pelok again gained all-league status in cross country, qualified for state, and earned the title of MVP. She also went to state in swimming in the 200-yard medley. In track Missi set a league and school record at the NWOAL meet in the 1600-meter run, a record that stood for 20 years.
Pelok made her 3rd cross-country state appearance as a junior and again gained first team all-league status. In the spring track season league meet, Missi was a champion in the 1600-meter run and second in the 800-meter run.
In 1987, Missi made her fourth appearance at the state cross country meet finishing 23rd. She was named all-league for a fourth straight year. She was a captain of the swim team and was on the 400 freestyle relay team that broke a school record. Pelok earned the MVP distance runner and the Gut Award in track for her hard work as well as her 3rd NWOAL 1600-meter championship.
After graduation Missi went to Morehead State University in Kentucky where she ran for 3 years until a knee injury ended her running career. Pelok was also on the Morehead State swim team. Missi currently resides in Wauseon with her husband Dwayne and children Kiara and Dawson.
